About CMYK + Spot Color PhotoShop™ Files

In order to achieve certain special effects, it is necessary to create a composite CMYK + Spot Color PhotoShop™ file. This is possible using PhotoShop™ 5.0 or later. Adobe has included a comprehensive tutorial on this procedure in the PhotoShop™ Help/Tutorials menu – which is also available online at Adobe.com, so we won't go into the step-by-step details here.

An important point that is not stressed in the tutorial is that the final file must be saved as a .DCS (Desktop Color Separation) format file and placed into a page layout application that supports the DCS format, such as Quark Xpress™

Talk to your Sales Rep or feel free to contact our Digital Prepress Department if you are not sure if this is the most appropriate method for achieving the desired effect.
