CMYK + Spot Color PhotoShop Files
In order to achieve certain special effects, it is necessary to create a composite
CMYK + Spot Color PhotoShop file. This is possible using PhotoShop
5.0 or later. Adobe has included a comprehensive tutorial on this procedure
in the PhotoShop Help/Tutorials menu which is also available
online at Adobe.com,
so we won't go into the step-by-step details here.
An important point that is not stressed in the tutorial is that the final file must be saved as a .DCS (Desktop Color Separation) format file and placed into a page layout application that supports the DCS format, such as Quark Xpress
