Opaque
Vinyl/Plastics File Preparation
Preparing
digital art for printing on opaque PVC vinyl, styrene, static cling vinyl
or any other opaque UV-printable substrate is essentially the same as preparing
files for printing on paper substrates.
It is especially important to discuss the usage of special inks such as flourescents
or metallics on vinyl or plastic substrates or UV-printed paper for
that matter, as the printability properties of these inks are typically quite
different than similar inks used on conventional printing presses.
It's also worth mentioning that UV printing typically yields slightly higher
dot gain percentages than our conventional presses. Like our conventional
Komori Lithrone presses, our UV press is also equipped with the Delta Dampening
System, however, UV inks are noticeably more viscous tham conventional/vegetable-based
inks which lends itself to slightly higher dot gain levels.
