CTP — the future of printing is here

Lange Graphics' computer-to-plate imaging system

In 1997, Lange Graphics installed the first CREO Computer-to-Plate (CTP) imaging system in the midwest. Since then, our printing has never looked better. With CTP, original digital-art files are simply assembled electronically into digital forms, then exposed directly to the printing plate with thermal-laser technology.

CTP is more predictable, consistent, and infinitely more accurate than imaging plates with lithographic film. Our unique CREO thermal CTP system eliminates the two most-important, quality-degrading variables caused by film: uncontrolled distortion, such as dot gain of the halftone dot and mis-registration due to poor film fit. As a result, your printing benefits in several ways:

  • Our press work can exceed conventional film-based reproduction in critical highlight and shadow mid-tones. We can literally print a 1% dot, if need be.
  • Press work can be run at much higher ink densities for more intense color saturation than with conventionally imaged plates.
  • CTP-imaged plates are capable of much finer screen rulings for better detail retention and consistency.
  • Vignettes print smoother and much more consistently than ever before.
  • Plate registration is digitally precise — allowing for faster press make-ready and approvals and far less wasted paper.
  • Reprints are MUCH easier to match.
